Commissioned Crochet Bunnies

A while ago I had a client go through my personal blog and she happened to pass a picture of a crocheted bunny that I had made. She fell head over heels in love!

Mostly I do Amigurumi (Japanese art of crocheting stuffed toys) as a hobby because well it's fun. Over some time I've found 2 pretty amazing artists who create amis - Shannen from Sweet n Cute Creations and Stephanie from All About Ami (check out their ROCKING blogs if you love anything to do with Crochet or Amigurumi).

The bunny pattern I used to do the bunnies is from Stephanie and the pattern was actually published in http://craftzine.com

Here are the 2 bunnies I was commissioned to make :)

Adrienne and Monique's bunnies

I've named these two cuties as Bob the Second (right), as my original one that I've made for myself is that colour, and Billy is on the left.

Adrienne and Monique's bunnies - lying downAdrienne and Monique's bunnies - in my hand

They really aren't very big as you can see as I'm holding it in my palm (right photo). Only about 20cm long from ear to tip of foot when lying down. They are made to be sitting and not standing, so that's why the left photo seems a bit odd (well it does to me anyway lol).

I tried to make each bunny different so that it has some character.

The only difference between my bunnies and the one's from Stephanie's pattern is that I used a 3,5mm needle, used the magic circle technique and I changed the nose because well I kind of got lost with the drawings on how to do her nose. It's kind of similar though.

Because this is Stephanie's pattern, due credit is going to her. She's an amazing artist.

Behind the Scenes with the Face (Me) of Beadie Creations

A while back I tweeted how I was in the mood to be interviewed. I was only joking but @Gnat_J took me seriously and decided to do a serious interview with me on her blog.

I am a bit delayed as in posting this because she posted the interview on the 4th of May.

But if you're interested to know a bit more about ME – the person behind Beadie Creations, then here you have it!!

A little snippet:

Yesterday, Siobhan tweeted that she felt like being interviewed.  I love asking questions and finding out what makes people tick, so I popped her a mail and here we have it, the very first ‘Who are you?‘ interview on my blog.

~

1. If you had a super power, what would it be?

I think I’d like to be able to do magic, like be able to make inanimate objects comes to life.  (I’m kind of into Dynamo: Magician impossible right now).  Or control the weather.  Storm was my favourite Xmen character.

2. How do you pronounce Siobhan?

Sh-ah-von.  It is Irish and means a gift from God or God is gracious.  That being said, now everyone will understand why I call myself V.

To read the rest of my awesome interview, pop on over to @Gnat_J's blog HERE. I cannot tell you how much fun I had answering the Qs and you get to see more about me.

Gift for the 100th Liker on FB

ShroomMeet Shroom.

Shroom is suppose to be a cupcake but it landed up looking like a Mario Bros mushroom.

Isn't he the cutest little thing you've ever seen. So proud of him!

Anyways to the 100th liker in South Africa, on the Facebook Page he will go. Only 30 likes to go before he finds his home!!

I've done some organising on the FB page so right now the album you'll find Shroom in is "Crocheted Creations" but soon I'll be adding the bunnies I was commissioned to make. I a just waiting for both client's approval on them.

Cupcake Key chainAfter making Shroom I was so inspired by the pattern that I made a little cupcake key chain.

Well I changed the pattern completely and ended up doing my own thing for it, but I think it is just as adorable!!

I got the pattern from Pinterest on a site called Knit Picks and the pattern is made by The Itsy Bitsy Spider. It's a rocking pattern!!!

New Creations

The plain beanies but with their ties The plain beanies WITH their ties

I decided to actually put the ties on the beanies yesterday. Well I had to because I was going to go to do the stall today but postponed due to the weather. The long weekend has just begun anyways.
I added black and white ties to the black/white beanie and silver/grey and black ties to the black/grey beanie. There are 2 of each of this design so 2 have loose braid and the other 2 have thinner, tighter braids.

Red chain necklace Red chain necklace

I wanted to make a similar necklace to the green chain necklace and so decided to do it in red which I think rocks. I used metallic red beads and clear biconial beads with chain and a toggle clasp.

For these crochet necklaces I used crochet cotton in purple and black.
For the black necklace I used pale blue and metallic grey faux pearls. For the purple one I used purple crochet cotton which is a bit paler than depicted in the photo. I used pale purple and clear biconial beads.

Purple wire earrings Earrings I just changed

I just changed these by taking off the beaded link and keeping them more plain. Just think it looks MUCH better.

I adore these dream catcher earrings! How much do they ROCK?!!!
I used blue and white crochet cotton for them and complimentary feather.
They take ages to do but they really were a massive achievement! I love how them look and I think they rock!!
The original pattern is from: Original pattern from Free-Crochet but I have changed the pattern quite a lot but thats where my inspiration comes from :)

Creations for the Stall this Weekend

Well this weekend, the LONG weekend, I will be spending my glorious time selling my creations in Paternoster. I am excited, I am nervous, I am excited… I am a lot of things hehe!!
Here are the beanies that will be there:
Strawberry milkshake and One eye moody owl beanies
This is Strawberry milkshake (left) and One-eye moody.

I've named each owl beanie. I don't know why but it adds some character to each creation. Makes me feel like a kid and I hope that anyone who invests in one of my owl beanies feels that way when they wear it – a cool kid!!
Strawberry milkshake is in chocolate brown and bright pink wool.
One-eye moody is in navy blue, brighter blue break strip and a deep purple wool. There is white in his braid ties.

Puff stitch beanies in purple, grey/silver, brown  Hippy beanies.

There will be some rocking hippy beanies. They aren't extremely slouchy but they're super cool nonetheless. They are in bright purple, a silver/grey and a deep chocolate brown (which is actually my fav! LOVE the colour)!

Normal black beanies with white and grey borders
Plain beanies.

I haven't yet decided if I'm going to make braids for these beanies. I probably will. I quite like the change seeing as there are no braid ties.
These are just plain black beanies and one has a fluffy white border while the other has the silver/grey border. Very classy in my opinion!

PicStory-2012-04-24-03-08 GIFT BAGS with pink and green ribbon!

Apart from doing the above beanies. These little bags have been keeping me super busy because they take FOREVER to make. You just wouldn't believe it. I have finished most of the smaller ones but I still need to do some big ones for the beanies.
But come on! How much do they ROCK! I just love them!

In these past few weeks where I have been busting my booty to make things (I haven't even gotten to half the jewelry that I want to have up at the stall. I have the most AMAZING crochet necklaces with crochet wool in black and purple that I CANNOT wait to show you once completed), I have realised how much Beadie Creations is all about HANDMADE – my bags are handmade, my business cards are. So little about my business isn't handmade, like the envelopes orders are packed in to post, those aren't handmade LOL!
This is what makes Beadie Creations UNIQUE!!! And I LOVE it!

Desire's Hippy Creation

Desire's puff stitch beanie How ROCKING is this beanie hey?!

Desire's bow on the beanie and close up of the stitch Close up of the little purple bow on the border of the beanie.

This is Desire's hippy beanie!

I used thick, plain black wool in a puff stitch. The pattern I got from copying the beanie that @parastar sent me all the way from the USA.

My puff stitch I do differently, it is just how I was taught so there's no biggy to that really.

I hope to update this post at some stage with a photo of the client in her beanie :)
