Flowers and Mirror Tiles

Kim orders a beanie and gloves for her daughter as well as a mosaic cross for herself.

I was actually so apprehensive to make the pieces for her daughter because I usually make things for adults so I had to slightly adjust the pattern for the goodies to fit Jade.

Kim made me jump out of the mould and requested different things from the norm so this was a pretty cool order for me to do and I adore the colours I got to use.

Kim's Mirror Cross:

Isn't that the most gorgeous blue, glitter tiles ever? I absolutely adore them! Kim asked that I close the side edges of her cross so I had to cut the tile in half so that a half could fit on each side as well as on the top and the bottom. I also tried to echo the feeling of the cross and that's why I used whole mirror tiles in the middle as well.

I decided to do the back of the cross in a dark sapphire blue. I pained a layer of green under the blue and once the blue dried I sanded it so only peeks of the green shines through. You can't really see it on the photograph though… looks more like lighter spots. The sides of the cross (which you can't see) I only used one coat of blue and then sanded that to give it a bit of an "aged" look.

I was initially apprehensive about the  colours but I can genuinely say that I love the colours I chose for the ribbon and the back of the cross. This is really one of the most gorgeous crosses I've ever had the pleasure of making for a client.

When I initially made these gloves I made the one, one row too short. Don't ask me how that happened LOL but I fixed it and they are absolutely ROCKING!

I love these gloves. The flowers I sewed on so that the petals are lose. It gives a different and super cool effect!

The beanie I didn't need to adjust so much because Jade has a head the same size as me. The flower I was so apprehensive about because I usually only put bows on puff-stitch beanies but I mean come on how rocking did this flower come out on the beanie! It just rocks!! I think the little bead gives it such a cute little pop!

Pink Tiles and Mirrors

I used pink-glitter tiles. The pink isn't anything 80s bright. It is a very nice soft pink.

I also used my favourite thing to work with – MIRRORS!!!

I wanted to use a "vriendin" tile in the middle of the cross but couldn't find one of an appropriate size so I painted "Vriendin" on the back of the cross with a TOOTHPICK of all things. Came out stunning in my opinion!! The back of the cross is also painted in a soft-carnation-pink.

The last piece I added was a bright purple ribbon so that the cross can be hung anywhere.

These are relatively small crosses so postage wouldn't be too expensive and I am genuinely thinking of adding it to my Bid or buy items for sale. I think it would do pretty well!!

Red Heart Mosaic Finished for a Client

These photos are taken with my mobile camera so apologies for the quality.

 

Mosaics are made on request but this mosaic I cannot take credit for because all I had to do was the finishing of the piece: The grouting, cleaning and painting.

A friend of my Grandmother's took on the task of mosaic-ing and asked if I would finish it for her because she didn't know how to do the rest and didn't want to mess up the piece.

I grouted the heart with plain white grout and cleaned off all the tiles (some of them had glue on them) and then I painted the back of the piece with a sponge so there are no lines. (This is actually a technique I think I should rather adopt because painting with a brush leaves lines and I hate that!)

For a first time mosaic-ee, even though she didn't cut the tiles herself, I think she did a great job and she should be very proud of  her piece =D I am very honoured to have finished it for her!

Pink Mosaic for a Baby Girl's Room

I made this mosaic for a client whose friend recently gave birth to a baby girl and she wanted something to hang in the baby's room.

We decided on a large cross mosaic-ed in pearly pink tiles and mirrors around the name. I used lettered tiles to obviously spell out her baby's name as you can see and I used a simple white grout to finish it off.

I painted the cross a very soft pink and at the back of it I used rub on stickers to spell out her baby's name again and a little message. It makes the piece so much more personal and intimate in my opinion.

I then used 2 small hooks that you usually use for curtains, drilled that into the side and then used pink and black organza ribbon to hang it up on the wall.

This is the biggest mosaic that I've ever had to do and I'm really proud of it. Think it came out stunning (pink being my favourite colour has nothing to do with that though ;) hehe!)

Heart Mosaic

This is a heart mosaic - as you can see ;)

I used these red tiles for the mosaic but because i cut the tiles smaller, there are different shades of red in the mosaic and I think that adds a ton of character.
I added the BEE letters as requested by the client. Initially the letters said BFF so I had to repaint and varnish them :)
I used white grout for this piece and I added a white hook and purple ribbon so the client can hang the mosaic on the wall!
It is the first heart I've ever had to mosaic before and even though it was quite the challenge, I seriously enjoyed it!

Mosaic Crosses

I'm so in love with the colours of this cross. It is very 60s kitchen/homemaker colours LOL!

I used yellow, orange and green tiles and I arranged them randomly. I used a word tile saying FOREVER.

I think the colours of this cross is just as stunning! You can't compare the two because they are BOTH equally stunning!

It is metallic tiles that shine with a gold, purple and green/blue hue depending on how you hold/look at the cross. I wanted to be a little bit different and use individual tiles to spell out G O D!

Almost had a bit of an episode because I almost glued dog, instead of God, but thank goodness I noticed – some daily humour for you :)

Sunflower Mosaic

It's been a long while since I've done/finished some work – been sick!

But yesterday I managed to finish a Christmas gift from my grandparents to myself!

My first sunflower Mosaic.

Tiles I used: brown glitter for the flower middle, yellow for the petals and white for the background.

I painted the pot stand a dark grass green. I would use this more to display nice things on, like a jewelry doll or perfume.

The top measure 12,8 x 12,8 cm and it stands about 1 cm off any surface!

Mosaic Jewelry Box…

This is a JEWELRY BOX!!

Inside you'll find red felt, just so that your jewelry isn't on the solid wood. Something nice and comfy on the bling!

The lid I mosaic-ed in mirror tiles and made a corner piece with plain pink tiles.

The bottom has that pearly tiles, mixed with blue and mirror tiles.

Mosaic me

Don't you just LOVE the little fish I tiled for myself?

We named him Fishpaste and I used a combination of tiles that I had left over from other projects. From green mirror to plain mirror, to glitter red, black, seashell orange and white!

This is the first project I've done like this and who knows, I might get some orders for cool things like this one day!

This is a frame I did for my mother. I used metallic tiles similar to the mosaic cross I did for a client (click here to see) and then I used a mix of green and blue tiles with the letter-tiles of R and A! Also something that I think is just stunning!

Tiled cross that I made for a friend.

Stunning little blue tiles with faith framed in mirror tiles!!

I think it's one of my best yet… quite jealous that it isn't mine and she got to keep it :( LOL but because it's hers, I think that's why I like it more than my own

 

And this is just the bracelet that I made for her!! She just gave me the cross to use.

Very simple, but yet I think it's the simplicity of the bracelet that I really like!!!

This is a cross Mosaic I did for a friend, who LOVES pink. I unfortunately couldn't get any pink tiles that matched her personality so we decided on these "magical sea shell" tiles.

In total I used 58 Tiles with a ivory grout. She loves it, so client happiness P

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This is a cross I made for myself that started up the idea to sell my mosaic projects.

I love using mirror tiles as you can see so I've bordered my cross with it. I then used brown tiles that look as if they have glitter in them (what girl doesn't like some sparkles?), similar white tiles and also a sea shell type white and peach tiles. All tied together with lovely ivory grout!

The crosses measure 14.9 cm width and 20.4 cm length.

 

 

 

 

 

 

A gold and silver tiled star bordered by hot pink tiles with corner mirrors and a white tiled background. All the tiles I used are the ones that look like they have the glitter in them.

This is one of my very first projects that is just too girly for words and I love it to bits.

It's actually a pot stand that I've turned in a jewelry and perfume stand. Every lady needs to have her jewels and perfume displayed don't you think!!?

It measures 20x20cm and does have 4 small, flat wooden legs.
