Green Tree of Life

DSCF8532 green tree of life

I don't know why but I really do LOVE making tree of life pendants. It takes AGES but it really gives such a sense of peace and the end product is always something I'm very proud of.

This is a green tree of life pendant as you can obviously see. It really does represent growth.

I was extremely blessed to be commissioned to make this pendant for a friend on Twitter, who's wife ALSO makes jewellery and is incredibly talented. It IS still an honour for me and I can barely believe that it was ME who made it for HER!!!

Anyway I used a metallic green wire and then dark metallic green beads, in between them are small clear seed beads, just to give a break from all the green.

******

In other news, yesterday I sent off Sonja's Bunnies. So they are on their way via AIRMAIL to Namibia. It was probably the most scariest thing I've ever done. I had to fill out a declaration form and everything, but at the same time it was immensely cool!!! I can't wait for her to receive them, I'm totally excited. The bunnies have left the coop and are going to be making it to their new loving homes soon :D

Also I posted Patches last week Friday so, she is ALSO on her way to her new loving home! As well as the feathered Crochet dream catcher earrings and the giveaway tree of life pendant!!!

Such exciting things happening at the end of this year. Today I need to take through the few Bunnies and Monsters to the local shop here that will be stocking and selling them. Excited and nervous too but I am quite sure that they will find loving homes soon too :D

I also need to upload photos of the new threaded bracelets that I've been making so keep an eye out for that!!!

    New Creations

The plain beanies but with their ties The plain beanies WITH their ties

I decided to actually put the ties on the beanies yesterday. Well I had to because I was going to go to do the stall today but postponed due to the weather. The long weekend has just begun anyways.
I added black and white ties to the black/white beanie and silver/grey and black ties to the black/grey beanie. There are 2 of each of this design so 2 have loose braid and the other 2 have thinner, tighter braids.

Red chain necklace Red chain necklace

I wanted to make a similar necklace to the green chain necklace and so decided to do it in red which I think rocks. I used metallic red beads and clear biconial beads with chain and a toggle clasp.

For these crochet necklaces I used crochet cotton in purple and black.
For the black necklace I used pale blue and metallic grey faux pearls. For the purple one I used purple crochet cotton which is a bit paler than depicted in the photo. I used pale purple and clear biconial beads.

Purple wire earrings Earrings I just changed

I just changed these by taking off the beaded link and keeping them more plain. Just think it looks MUCH better.

I adore these dream catcher earrings! How much do they ROCK?!!!
I used blue and white crochet cotton for them and complimentary feather.
They take ages to do but they really were a massive achievement! I love how them look and I think they rock!!
The original pattern is from: Original pattern from Free-Crochet but I have changed the pattern quite a lot but thats where my inspiration comes from :)

    Keeping the Faith Ribbons

I think that these are very special pieces for me because the client actually told me why they wanted what they did. Most clients don't do that or don't have a reason why they request something.

    Renee's Necklaces

This is a completely stunning organza necklace that I made. I used only white organza and white hemp with clear/silver reflective beads.

The white looks so innocent and beautiful! Such a nice change to make something so neutral and stunning.

    Renee's Necklaces

For this necklace I used black organza, navy blue ribbon (which gives a nice peek-a-boo effect to the necklace) and black hemp. I also used reflective beads on this necklace but in black/grey so that it does match the above necklace's beads.

Thank you @beerwench1 for the support! Doing your pieces was a blast for me!! :-D

    Ribbons for a Wedding

My cousin in Durban recently got hold of me again. We were MIA over the festive season.

She asked me to do a ribbon necklace for her as she is going to a wedding and wants something with ribbons to match the stunning black dress she has (that absolutely looks amazing on her body)!

Adrienne's Necklace: Black ribbon, organza and hemp. Clear/white beads and black beads. Designed toggle clasp.

The necklace. Usually I add beads onto the ribbon itself but here I just made it that you can wrap the beaded hemp around the ribbon if you wanted to.

    Close ups:

Adrienne's Necklace: Close up of the clear/white beads.

A close up of the type of beads I used. These are clear beads with a white bead inside of it. Very different and very cool!

Adrienne's Necklace: Close up of the cross

The cross that I used for the necklace. I've used these crosses before for rosaries for a previous client before as well.

Adrienne's Necklace: Close up of the designed toggle clasp.

A close up of the toggle clasp that I used. Usually I use plain toggle clasps for pieces but seeing as this is a piece to be worn to a wedding, it got a more designed toggle clasp.

    Crocheted Necklace and Bracelet

    Marietjie's Order: Necklace and bracelet

A purple beaded crochet necklace and a green beaded crochet bracelet, both with toggle clasps.

Marietjie's Order: Bracelet in greenMarietjie's Order: Close up of the bracelet beads

    The green beaded crochet bracelet.

I used for the center piece a lime green bead, lime green seed beads and clear seed beads. For the rest of the dangles i used metallic green seed beads, green faux pearls and clear seed beads.

Marietjie's Order: Necklace in purple Marietjie's Order: Close up of the necklace beads

For the necklace I used flat, clear purple beads, metallic purple seed beads and clear seed beads.

I've gotten into crocheting lately and I've often been wondering how cool it would be to crochet jewelry. I was scouring the internet one day and found a picture of a necklace like this on craftbits so I decided to try and duplicate it. I posted a picture on twitter and this client said she wanted one, AS WELL AS  a bracelet. I modified the pattern a bit and made the bracelet as well.

What is super cool about this pattern is that someone who is allergic to metal can wear it because if you don't add the toggle clasps like I did, you can add a button because the pattern makes provision for a button hole (you just then sew a button on the opposite end.)

Thanks @marieks12 for the support and giving me the opportunity to make such amazing pieces for you.

Purple and Black Mermaid Necklace for a Friend

    DSCF6055 [600X800 BC]DSCF6056 [800x600 BC]
This is a mermaid necklace that I made for a friend but it doesn't have the hemp between the ribbon as a mermaid necklace usually would have.
The cross charm is the client's own.
I used black organza and a dark purple ribbon with bright pinkish beads.
I took these photos before I put the toggle clasps on as we still had to measure for length so when I see her again I will take a photo of the COMPLETED necklace and update this post for you guys.

Updated photo with the toggle clasp:
You cannot see the clasp but it is a plain toggle clasp and engraved on the circle of the toggle clasp is "I love you".
I apologize for the quality of the photo. I took it with my mobile camera.

    Chokers for a Special Person

I'd never done chokers before but I had a client who requested two for her so I started my mission.

These are the results and I'm very proud of them! They are the most beautiful and intricate pieces I've ever done.
